The 34th Annual Historic Appomattox Railroad Festival enjoyed sunny weather and a record-setting crowd over the weekend of October 14th and 15th. Estimated attendance at 43,000-to-45,000 over the weekend, is the highest estimate in Railroad Festival history.

Approximately 140 entries participated in the traditional parade on Saturday morning, as standing-room-only crowds packed streets to witness the kickoff event.  The UDC float won the second place overall for the parade and received $125.00 for their general fund.

Members of the Appomattox United Daughters of the Confederacy, Children of the Confederacy, and Sons of Confederate Veterans decorate the float and show their patriotism and love of their country for the 34th Annual Appomattox Railroad Festival.

H.K. Edgerton, carrying the Confederate Flag and Terry Lee Edgerton playing drums with 13 Confederate Flags join the parade and march to show their Southern Heritage. Their ancestor was Pvt. John Edgerton of Rutherford NC.

The Old Appomattox Jail (in continuous use 1897-1981), now the Appomattox County Historical Museum is the back drop for members of the Appomattox United Daughters of the Confederacy, Children of the Confederacy, and Sons of Confederate Veterans
