The Appomattox Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy held their 142nd Annual Memorial Service at the Confederate Cemetery on April 6, 2008.The Invocation was given by Richard Lee Martin.  
Dr. Rondel H. Rumburg, the guest speaker, spoke from his book "Stonewall Jackson's Verse" regarding the life and faith of Jackson. The service honored the men who are buried at the cemetery as well as all other wars by the singing of songs and reading of  poetry.  The Honor/Color Guard was represented by the Appomattox Rangers Court House SCV Camp  and the Nelson Grays SCV Camp.
Flowers/wreaths were presented by Virginia Division President, Mrs. Susie Masters of Fredericksburg; William Latane' Camp #1690 of Mechanicsville, VA by  Mr. Leslie Updike; President Davis Chapter, Richmond, by President Mrs. Francine Stanley; and the Appomattox Chapter by Ms. Carolyn Davis and Ms. Frances Lewis. Mr. Wade Locy of Forest was soloist. Taps was presented by Mr. Jesse Osborne. The Benediction was given by Joseph H. Ferris. It was a beautiful day of honor despite the rain and cold.
