The
Appomattox UDC held its annual Memorial Service, April 8, 2018 at 2pm. The program opened with the posting of the Color Guard,
Mr. Joe Ferris had the Invocation,the Children of the Confederacy led the pledges. Mrs. Karen Sale, President welcomed guests.
Greetings were brought from Miss Ginger Stephens, VA Division President. A poem entitled "Remembering Our Brave Soldiers was
written and read by VA Division CofC President Miss Laural Williams who is also a member of the Appomattox Jrs. Mr. Donald
Hamilton and Mr. Gene Williams played and sang. Ms. Stella Osborne, Appomattox UDC member introduced the speaker. Dr. H. Rondel
Rumburg gave the Address. Also, Mrs. Carol Williams read a poem. Miss Autumn Shook, VA CofC Chaplain and Appomattox
Jrs. member sang "Hallelujah. Also, an Iron Cross Service was presented by the Appomattox CofC. Miss Autumn Shook
led the Littany, Miss Laural Williams welcomed all to the special service and read the names of the eighteen soldiers
interred here. Then, Miss Autumn Shook presented the Iron Cross and both girls unveiled the Cross. The Benediction
was led by Mr. Richard Daniel and the program ended with the Honor Guard Salute and Taps.
