Appomattox Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Appomattox Court House National Park hosted National Public Lands Day on September 29, 2012, at the Confederate Cemetery. The Appomattox UDC, park members, Children of the Confederacy member Laural Williams and other volunteers came together to help clean the headstones of some of the men who fought and died at Appomattox Courthouse on April 8^th and 9^th.  This took about two hours and participants could really see a difference in the look of the headstones.
