Friday October 5th, 2018, at
the UDC Convention in Roanoke, Virginia, Dr. Rondel Rumberg and CofC member Laural Williams were
presented with two prestigious awards. Dr. Rumburg was awarded with the Jefferson Davis Historical
Gold Medal for his outstanding contributions in furthering the study and preservation of Confederate history through historical
research, writing, public speaking, and other points of special achievement in keeping with the historical aims and purposes
of the organization. Laural was awarded the Jefferson Davis Historical Silver Medal that is presented to school-age children
who excel in the preservation of Confederate History. This award was presented to Laural for her two first place poems
and essays. Also, UDC member Susan Reynolds received an award for her essay "Robert E. Lee and the Campaign in Western
Virginia."

October 5, 2018, at Roanoke, Virginia during the UDC Historical Evening, the
Appomattox United Daughters of the Confederacy won for the fifth time in a row
the Mrs. John Goldsmith Banner award for giving the most support to the
Children of the Confederacy.
