Saturday April 4, the Appomattox United Daughters
held their annual Memorial Service at the Appomattox Cemetery celebrating the Sesquicentennial. David Trimble, who portrayed
his ancestor General Isaac Trimble, was the guest speaker. The program was filled with poetry and special music was presented
by Appomattox native Gene Williams and his band. Also, Al Stone, who portrays General Robert E. Lee, was given a special gift
from the Appomattox UDC in appreciation of his dedication and help in our program throughout the years. Later that afternoon
the Appomattox Children of the Confederacy placed a wreath at the Confederate Monument in Appomattox Courthouse square for
the 150th Sesquicentennial Celebration.
